Elvina Makaryan

I am so saddened by the news... Elvina Makaryan passed away... She was always different, never boring, all her life breaking out stereotypes and cliché, her voice - so seductive, beautiful, raspy ('khrpot')... Yes, she was different, and during her life-time she never received recognition she deserved: neither in Soviet or post-Soviet Armenia, nor in a Diaspora... She was devastated by recent death of her son... apparently, her heart was unable to recover from that lost... She will always remain in my memory as one of my favourite 'dissident' singers.
