New image of Armenia police? All is good BUT...
All this points towards the right direction but...
1. They should learn to be less intrusive, to avoid bothering people by asking if they need help. I do not think a foreigner enjoying evening with friends in downtown Yerevan would appreciate uninvited attention by police, however civilised, polite and smiley they may be. They (police) should be out there to provide assistance IF needed.
2. This is by far more serious point. If you aim to provide first aid, and if you put your blood group type on your uniform (which is GOOD!), make sure you indicate it right. Have a look at 4:33 - 4:34 minutes of the video. Thanks to a friend who pointed this out, blood group "O" is equivalent to "I" not "II" as wrongly indicated on the uniform.

Russia + Armenia + Azerbaijan: presidents in tracksuits

Multi-talented Armenian artist Karen Grigoryan to “Silence Against Noise” with his first London exhibit
I first heard of Karen Grigoryan last year when he staged an exhibit in Yerevan to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Artist, songwriter, producer, film director and TV host. If you think this is more than enough for one person, think again. Add to this his degrees... in political science and European studies.
Karen Grigoryan will present 40 works (20 photos & 20 graphic works) from his different collections, including "NO AIDS", "Silence" devoted to the Armenian Genocide, "Portfolio" and "Interval". This is his first exhibition in London.
Btw, while in London, Karen will be meeting British fashion icon Vivienne Westwood to interview for an Armenian IQ magazine.
Another interesting detail. The exhibition will be live streaming via artist’s blog at karengrigoryan.com
Below are details of the exhibit for your diary.
Date: 10 November 2010, 7pm.
Address:
Menier Gallery
51 Southwark Street

Russian girls support Vladimir Putin with pants
We all know that Armenian authorities like mimicking Russian...
Below is the latest trend from Russia.
The patriotic ‘Putin Panties’
By Adrian Blomfield (Telegraph)
Russian girls wanting to appear both patriotic and seductive have been handed the ultimate weapon - underwear paying tribute to Vladimir Putin by a Kremlin-linked fashion designer.
Antonia Shapovalova, 20, a commissar in the pro-Kremlin youth movement Nashi, says her underwear will help tackle Russia's shrinking population by encouraging girls to have more babies.
The ribboned red-and-white knickers are emblazoned with the words "Vova, I'm with you" - a term of affection for Putin.
Experts say the main cause of the population crisis is the number of Russians drinking themselves to death and question whether donning a pair of "Putin Panties" will alleviate the problem.
Miss Shapovalova has also created T-shirts, with the biggest seller proclaiming "Government Health Warning: Reproduction is good for your health".
But although president-elect Dmitry Medvedev, a Putin supporter, has bought a T-shirt - he has not gone so far as to purchase the pants.

Gorbachev as new Louis Vuitton 'model' - oh dear...

New York Times' Eric Wilson reports:
"A decade ago, Mr. Gorbachev’s appearance in a Pizza Hut commercial was generally greeted as a low point in his career.
The Vuitton ad, however, is part of a campaign to emphasize the company’s heritage in luggage and travel accessories. Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, the ads include other celebrities using Vuitton bags: Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf cuddling in a hotel room, their bags not yet unpacked; Catherine Deneuve resting on a trunk in front of a steaming locomotive; and Mr. Gorbachev in the back of a car with a duffel bag on the seat next to him. Of the group, Mr. Gorbachev appears the least comfortable. He is holding on to a door handle, as if the bag contained polonium 210.
It seems unlikely he will be approached by L’Oréal. "
