Azerbaijan cultural weekend in London

This weekend-long festival “Azerbaijan: an untapped cultural melting-pot” is organised by The European Azerbaijan Society.

Below is a quote from the festival’s leaflet:

“Located on the threshold of Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan, formerly part of the Silk Road, has an unique heritage, taking influences from both Persian and Russian Empires, Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The Azerbaijani Cultural Weekend is your opportunity to explore the many facets of this vibrant and diverse culture.”

The events will take place at London’s Cadogan Hall on 21-22 November 2009. Full programme: Day 1; Day 2.

There will be pretty big Buta Festival of Azerbaijani Arts in London from November 2009 to March 2010: website; sponsored editorial on Time Out London

This is the first large scale cultural/arts festival for Azerbaijan in London.

I have to say, I have not been or seen any Georgia related festivals in London (may be I missed it, but at least it was not very prominent if happened).

As to Armenia related events: there are regular Armenian community, cultural, arts events within and sometimes outside the Armenian community. However, we did not have such a large scale events as Azerbaijan's Buta festival. The last Armenia related festival I remember was in 2005 - London Armenian Film Festival, 11-17 February, which was pretty good and sadly, did not get repeated, as of now.
