Angelina Jolie to adopt an Armenian baby?

I’ve read reports in tabloids that Angelina Jolie is up for more adoptions, which reportedly caused tensions between her and Brad Pitt. But until today I had no idea that Anglenia’s latest preference for adoption is Armenian baby.

Here is what LA Gossip Examiner reports:

Angelina Jolie to adopt an Armenian baby
27 April 2009

Angelina Jolie is going to adopt an Armenian baby with or without Brad. Officials in Armenia would neither confirm nor deny Angelina’s adoption efforts but the Armenian rumors have been strong for a long time. One of the reasons Angelina wants to adopt from Armenia is because there is a lot less “red” tape and the adoption process can be a lot easier. She also believes an Armenian child will fit in perfectly with her African, Cambodian, and Vietnamese babies.

Angelina’s upcoming Armenian adoption has not gone down well with Brad; he wants to adopt from India. Although it would be great for Angelina and Brad to adopt from an orphanage in America, I’m not the type to pit children in different countries against each other. Something tells me, however, that an alien baby is definitely a possibility in the near future.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt - Still pretending to be in love
21 May 2009

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt put on an act of togetherness Tuesday night at the Cannes Film Festival. They were there to celebrate Brad Pitt’s upcoming WWII flick, Inglorious Bastards. The film received bad word-of-mouth from the screening, which means that there needs to be major editing done for this film to be a hit. However, that wasn’t the biggest problem.

Several insiders say that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not getting along anymore and have simply grown apart. Some people think Angelina’s possible adoption from Armenia is causing problems while others believe that the upcoming tell-all book from their former bodyguard is also causing rifts. Brad also is not fond of the way Angelina has been treating two dogs, Bingo and Angel, on the set of her new film Salt. Even though their breaking up would make a lot of jealous people happy, let’s hope they stay together for the sake of the kids….and the gossip columnists!

Lets examine the legalties of Jolie's past adoptions.
(1) a boy from Cambodia was through Seattle International Adoption Agency. After placing the boy with Jolie, the Galindo sisters were charged by the federal government for Visa fraud. Lauren Galindo served jail time for this. Seattle Internaitonal Adoption Agency was shortly closed down. 8 months later international adoptions from Cambodia were closed down by the government of Cambodia.l

Adoption 2) Zahara from Ethiopia, Jolie was pounding the media with stories about Zahara being the orphan of a mother who died from AIDS. 7 months later the Ethiopian woman has a press conference and declares "I am not dead" "why is Jolie saying this about me" The woman is very poor and lives with her mother. She was gang raped by neighboring military (Moslems) The adoption agency in the USA held a press conference and said that the in-country facilitaor lied to them about the mother being dead.

Adoption 3) a boy from Vietnam, 6 months later 14 couples are waiting for Visas in Vietnam to bring their new adopted babies home. They are denied Visas because of questions about proper relinquishment and if the babies were "really abandoned"
2 months later Vietnam closed down to International Adoption.

The last thing Armenia wants is Jolie to Adopt one of our children. If she does then every goof ball American will think they can buy one of our children.
in 2008, only 28 Adoption Visas were issued to Americans. Half were Special Needs children and the other were healthy.
Lastly, in Armenian adoptions, you must have Armenian Heritage. However, ODARs can get the severly handicapped. But as you know, anything can be done for a price if Jolie is willing to pay for it.

I like this part:

Armenian law prohibits adoption to foreigners!

artmika said...

Actually, that's not true. There are procedures for the adoption of orphaned children from Armenia, and they are outlined on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

Thanks artmika, I didn't know about that.

Here is the State Department's laws on Visa's issued to Armenian adoptions for Americans. Many people (Armenians) still chose to deal direct with the AAC (Armenian Adoption Committee) of America. There is an Odar by the name of Robin Sizemore that pimps out our special needs kids to odars and a few Armenians that are not connected to Hayastan will use her for a few healthy babies she claims are abandoned. She gets top dollar for handicapped kids. At one point was charging $32,000 with the economy being slow and adoptions even being slower. Robin lies and lowers the fee to $26,000 saying that "Armenia lowered their fees" when in fact Armenia -you will notice from the page barely charges $1,500 USD. It is the Adoption Agencies (body brokers) that charge the fees. If you want a crude awakening, you can look at the 990 IRS tax returns on the income these agencies gross in, it is staggering some make well over $1 million a year.

The majority of the Armenian children in orphanages are "social orphans" put there because their parents don't have a job or means to feed them. They are NOT adoptable under Armenian and American laws. They must be properly relinquished, but then..$50.00 might be a lot of money to some of these mothers who have other mouths to feed.

Lastly, remember the French Armenians adopt many children from Armenia too. In many ways Armenia would much rather their children go to European homes.
Adoption plain and simple is a business transaction to many of these agencies. Not about placing a child with a good match.
Besides who in the HELL is Robin Sizemore to make that decision about what child goes to what family. Where are the rights of the child?
She use to boldly put their photos on Reeces Rainbow and invade the child's right to privacy. Until the AAC warned her to remove Armenia on the photo. you can still see which ones are Armenian children - look for the e mail at the bottom that is to Hopscotch Adoptions-Jeanne Sobie --An Adoptive Odar parent that NOW works for Hopscotch Adoptions.

These flesh peddlers sicken me. And some Armenians are to blame for lining their pockets with big money like the in country facilitor Edward Amalyan, he drives a Mercedes.

Wait. So it's a bad thing that a woman with millions of dollars and a strong maternal instinct wants to adopt an Armenian baby and raise him or her in a world without want, where the child will get everything it needs, from food to education? I don't get it; what are y'all complaining about?

AF,
Those who are against Armenian kids being adopted by foreigners are actually based outside of Armenia themselves. One of their concerns which I share that kids will grow up in the environemnt where they will loose their Armenian identity.
But mostly their peoblem is with Armenia loosing its people, even if those kids live in non livable conditions they are still against adoption which can bring a good quality life for those kids. But it is not about the kids, it is about Armenian lands which either need to be defended (Artsakh) or taken back (Western Armnenia. These people didn't fight for artsakh and will not send their kids to fight if/when the war breaks out. This is when they need all those kids who live in unbearable conditions. But u do know all this, don't u? ;-)
P.S.
If high ranking authorities didn't put their "tater" into adoption agencies businesses it would have cost much less to adopt an Armenin kids to spare them the miserable life in orphanage.

...
I have posted in Russian two articles about Azeris/Turks going wild abt Jolie's possible adoption of Armenian child and Kim Kardashyan input in it lol

I challenge Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to spend those obscene reserves held by their 'Jolie-Pitt' Foundation on legitimate efficient 'humanitarian' work or turn the funds over to others who will. To date, they have taken in $22,000,000 on the sale of baby photos alone and spent or granted only a fraction of that on 'humanitarian' work or 'good will' of any kind. The rest so far, has been spent on PR campaigns, plane rides, and super-high end accomodations for Brad and Angie in exotic locations around the world. I also challenge them to meet the criteria of a legitimate charity, operate with a reasonable overhead, and get their 'foundation' worthy of a decent rating by ANY independent watchdog like Charitywatch.org. Otherwise, to stop using their 'foundation' as a travel/PR firm and stop seeking publicity for every donation made to their own 'foundation' shortly before or after the premier of their latest film or DVD release. I challenge Brad Pitt to do the same with his 'Make it right' Foundation. Which to date, has not met the criteria of a legitimate charity or been given a decent rating by ANY independent charity watchdog. Otherwise, to stop competing with 'Habitat for Humanity' for PR, credit, kudos, and funding. Who by the way have been building homes for the less fortunate in every major city including New Orleans for decades. 'Habitat for Humanity' has been 'Top Rated' for years by charitywatch.org and others. They operate with a low overhead, volunteer workforce, and donated materials. No similar effort can match their progress hour for hour or dollar for dollar. The homes built by 'Habitat' actually get lived in by the less fortunate. It works. In fact, hundreds of legitimate charities have been given good-excellent ratings by Charitywatch.org and other independent watchdog groups. By contrast, the vast, overwhelming majority of celebrity 'foundations' have been rated poorly, fair, or not rated at all. They usually don't even meet the criteria of a legitimate charity. Still, they have the nerve to seek funding from a number of sources including ordinary people, compete with legitimate charities, and cash in on maximum PR for their ineficient 'humanitarian' efforts. Its not right.

You people that have never dealt with orphanages in Armenia let me educate you on a few facts.
* Yes, Armenia will lose it's best resource and future if we allow an influx of people to adopt our children. Many that are in Odar homes have already lost their identity. I know of one couple in Michigan that adopted in 2005, they are odar and have connected themselves to the local Armenian church and community. This is unique to find a non-armenian couple so dedicated to their child's culture they have adapted it to their own. When adopting you must make a promise to the Armenian court that you will keep your child exposed to their heritage.
* The boys are harder to adopt as Armenia needs military for a strong future. With the Turks on one side and the Azeris (Turkish too) on the other, they are merely waiting for our future generation to die off, become weak, dependent on Russia and the Armenian Diaspora. Currently Armenia has a 0 percent birth rate and many citizens flee into nearby Russia or other countries for jobs.
* Yes, if there is medical attention that is needed in the USA, a special needs child should be adopted to a couple who has committed to having the medical procedures done on that child.
* putting your money into a stronger Armenia via training for the children (our future) makes more sense than adopting them out. BTW, Armenia is still high on the radar for human trafficking and prostitution in Dubai and Turkey. There are some children abandoned in the orphanages that the mother has had to work in Turkey as prostitute. When a friend of mine tried to adopt her son (mother hadn't seen her son in over 4 years) the mother would not relinquish unless she got an apartment in Yerevan, and a list of electronic equipment by brand name. Only 2% of the children in orphanages in Armenia are adoptable with the correct paperwork.
This is why groups like www.soar-us.org and Children of Armenia Fund are so important.
Put the money into training and sustaining our future not buying them and shipping them out to foreign lands.
Armen, you are incorrect about the rights of someone who has a million bucks. Having money doesn't give americans or others the sense of entitlement to purchase our children. Jolie and the rest don't have to go through the same extensive background scrunity for international adoption. why do you think Jolie picks these desperate countries with very loose adoption laws?

Lastly, the orphanages of Armenia and the care are some of the best in the world. Grant you it is not the same as having a mayrig, and home under one roof. But you must look at the orphanages first hand or look at the pictures online at SOAR's website. Some are so clean you can eat off the floor, and many have their families come every day just to share a meal with their children.

Another topic you are all not talking about is that Armenia started a "foster care" program some 3 years ago, it is still in it's infancy but there have been some successes. Like Mer Doon, a house in GAVAR purchased by Americans for girls who age out of the orphange system to live in and go to college. Very successful programs.
Lets build a strong economy and future for Armenia and it's children instead of sending the best resource (our children, our future) to people waiting to pay top dollar for a Armenian baby.

Lastly, very few Americans want the harder to place older children they all WANT BABIES and are willing to pay for this.
Adoption agencies don't gross over $1 million a year for nothing.

YOu are wrong that Turkey will attack Armenia if Armenia is weak..It is myhth that ultranationalist armenians live to justify their radical beings..
Second turks also have population problem,if you subtract the Kurdish population growth,Turks growth rate is 0,5% and we wait in 2038,it will be minus...
If you want to do a good thing to Armenia try to make good friendship with neighbours make trade with them..

Anonymous said...

You miss the point my Turk friend, Turkey knows it doesn't have to attack Armenia to destroy it.
All they have to do is continue to economically baracade/block the eastern border so commerce has to be re routed via Russia or Iran.
It is an economic war, which weakens Armenia. Just last week Russia announced a $500 million loan to Armenia. Iran and Armenia are building a railroad and Iran supplies Armenia with energy.

The ironic thing is.......the territory that Turkey blocks is historical Armenia land. Kurds inhabit it and many have turned our ancient churches into goat stalls.
Most Turks have Armenian blood in them, they came from Mongolia raping everything in sight. They have NO SHORTAGE of population which exceeds well over 30 million vs. Armenia's 3 million.
There are also 8 million Turks in Germany and another 4 million Turks throughout Europe and middle east.
Get your facts straight, or learn your history. I am sorry, because of Penal code 201 in Turkey you cannot talk about your history or you will be thrown in jail.

Anonymous, for Turkey there is no country as Armenia...No diplomatic relation no border..so you can not blame Turks for current situation..YOu may ask what current situation is..It is this Armenia is a colony of Russia that lives with Russian money and Russian military force..Even the borders and customs are controlled by Russians..
If you are a patriot to make life better for yourself, you shall rather make life easier for Armenia, that is getting rid of Russian dependency..Being clever, accepting todays realities and playing right...
You like it or not having good relations with Turkey is a must...If you want to integrate to west and get rid of being dependent to Russia..I am sorry..The early your get it the early you move forward..
PS:I hope in next elections you reach a democratic state that is not run by sovietic rulers who dont tolerate any of the opposition..You have much to go...

Guys, I am afraid, I will no longer accept comment re Armenia - Turkey relations under this particular post, as they are completely off topic. I do appreciate my readers' comments. However, I ask you follow the topic under discussion. Thanks for understanding.

Armenia 'unaware' of Angelina Jolie's adoption plans

YEREVAN, May 26 (RIA Novosti) - Armenia's Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said on Tuesday it had no information on reported plans by Hollywood star Angelina Jolie to adopt an Armenian baby. [...]

The head of the ministry's department for children, Lena Airapetyan, said Armenia's authorities do not grant privileges to celebrity couples, and that Jolie and Pitt would have to go through all the standard procedures necessary for adoption.

"They must provide full information on biographies, annual profit, a guarantee that they can take care of a child, and proof of a lack of previous convictions. If everything passes smoothly, a child could be adopted within a month," she said.

The official said however that "they give me great hope as I have heard that they take good care of adopted children."

Poor Brad. They already have what, 6 kids now?

But they probably have a lot of help feeding the kids, changing the diapers and taking care of the more unpleasant tasks of parenting, leaving them to only enjoy the good parts of it.

No matter what the story, if there is any public criticism, Armenian government officials are "unaware" of the problem--nice work if you can get it. (...snore.....)

Yes, Nazarian, I suspect Brangelina have "people" for those things. (their French estate: http://bit.ly/kTXMz )
